Petrovietnam awards equipment supply order for coal power plant in Vietnam

Petrovietnam Construction Joint Stock Corp. has selected a team of Toshiba Corp, Sojitz Corp. and Daelim Industrial Co to provide equipment for its 1,200MW Thai Binh 2 Coal Thermal Power Plant Project in Thai Binh province on north-east coast of Vietnam.

The $830m engineering, procurement and supply contract will involve in provision of two 600MW steam turbine and generators and other equipments for the project.

Toshiba and Sojitz will design, manufacture and supply the steam turbines and generators, whereas the overall plant engineering and construction schedule control, and procurement of boilers and auxiliary equipment will be handled by Daelim.

The company is expected to deliver the steam turbine and generators by December 2014 and the first unit is anticipated to start operation in 2015.

Petrovietnam is a subsidiary of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and an engineering, procurement and construction contractor.

Toshiba is a Japanese electronics, electrical equipment and information technology corporation.

Korean Daelim provides engineering & construction and petrochemical operations and Japanese Sojitz is a trades and operates in many industries, including construction, forestry, plastics, chemicals, mining, petroleum, textiles, and international trade.
